Thorite believes few people realise
that one 3mm diameter compressed
air leak can cost up to £600 per year,
or that leakage is the single largest
waste of compressed air, with up to
40% leakage on unmanaged systems
being extremely common.

However, the company reports
that there are now many companies
who are saving on average around
£7000 each year, simply by taking
advantage of the leak reduction
programme that is part of Thorite’s
compressed air audits and surveys
service. The company’s engineers can
carry out a full compressed air audit,
or simply an air leak reduction survey,
using ultrasonic leak detectors.

Every potential source of air leak
is checked, with a comprehensive
report provided. This locates leaks,
classifies them by amount (and cost)
of air they are wasting and listing
how much each will cost to repair.

Thorite says pay-back is usually
achieved in a few months. For
example a West Yorkshire Wire
Drawing business was leaking £7900
each year, Thorite’s repair cost was
£1900 and this was paid for through
savings in four months – with a
£7900 saving each year thereafter.
