They are available in three different design specifications with various lengths of bed, a choice of control systems and a wide choice of optional equipment which ensures there  is a feature-rich SB Series machine to suit a user’s precise needs.

The SB 2921, 3527 and 4305 models have various features to minimise vibration, improve rigidity, maximise precision, increase productivity and reduce production costs.

The heavy duty ‘Monoblock’ Meehanite cast bed is heat-treated and annealed twice and is internally reinforced using numerous heavy ribs. The integral guide ways are induction hardened (HRC53) and precision ground to meet and exceed BS, DIN & ISO standards. All sliding surfaces are coated with Turcite-B to provide maximum precision and rigidity even under rigorous loading.

The headstock is driven from an infinitely variable digital AC spindle motor and drive and the helical gears provide a smooth backlash-free transmission ensuring, long life, reliability and high precision. A 12 station turret uses non-stop, bi-directional indexing allowing for a 3 second next station index, reducing overall cycle time. Manual, hydraulic and programmable steady rests are available to suit individual customer requirements.  

To maximum rigidity and stability when machining long and heavy components the tailstock has been mounted directly on to the guide ways. 

The fully programmable quill is housed in a cast iron body and supplied with MT6 bore with optional built in live centre, as standard.
