According to Germstar, there’s
one workplace hazard that’s
often overlooked, yet it is one
that can affect both the health of the
workforce and the business – the
spread of infectious diseases.

Companies lose income every year
when staff take time off due to
highly contagious complaints such as
colds and ‘flu. Around 80% of
infectious diseases are spread by
hand – from surfaces, shaking hands,
sharing a computer keyboard, using
washroom taps and towels. Even

are handled.

The European Centre for Disease
Control says the single most effective
thing you can do to prevent illness is
to wash your hands.However, surveys
show only 60-70% of people follow
this rule after using a restroom and
only half of those use soap.
