Portakabin has delivered a compromising power quality.

highly sustainable solution to
Network Rail for the new
waste management facility at
its training centre near
Coventry. The building
houses waste processing
equipment, including food
de-watering, composting and
general waste handling.

Supplied as a single steelframed
module, the
Portakabin building has wide
double doors to the front and
side, simplifying installation
of specialist equipment. The
floor was reinforced to give a
5Kn loading to support the
heavy composting plant, and
the entire building was
wrapped in vinyl sheeting
overprinted with images of
trees and plants to help it
blend into its surroundings.

A green sedum roof
provides additional thermal
insulation, is low maintenance
and encourages biodiversity.

Mark Kelly, operations
manager at the Westwood
site, says the building was
craned into position
efficiently with just inches to
spare, on schedule and ready
for Network Rail to move in
its equipment.
