Cosmetics, has reduced its
trade effluent bill thanks to a
wastewater treatment
solution from WPL.

WPL identified a chemical
regime that would reduce the
company’s COD (chemical
oxygen demand) from 8500
to less than 2000mg/L,
however this would increase
s.s. (suspended solids) and
generate solids that would
require removal.

Following discussions with
Southern Water it was agreed
that if the COD could be
reduced, the resulting s.s.

could continue to discharge
to sewer, negating the need
for using expensive sludge
removal techniques.

Under a five year contract,
WPL supplies capital
equipment, service and
chemicals for a monthly fee.
