Knapp UK is
celebrating a
significant order
for modifications
to the Somerset
distribution
facility of its
customer, Clarks.

The shoe giant
is investing in
new systems that
will enable it to prepare shipping
consignments to meet changing
market demands. The existing
automated handling system at the
Street facility was designed and
installed by Knapp in 2005 and has
been maintained by Knapp’s
resident engineers. The new
equipment, which will meet Clarks’
throughput of 1800 cartons/hour,
will go live towards the end of the
year. To optimise the goods-out
process, Knapp will integrate
automatic invoice insertion,
labelling and volumetric checking
equipment within its solution.
