Some of the items weighed up to 40t and some were 4.8m wide. Others needed regular maintenance and a permanent power supply to maintain correct temperature, humidity and performance. An efficient warehouse management system ensured inventories could be carried out, reducing the time needed to locate specific items.

In September 2013, Merritts was tasked with transporting power station fan casings from its site in North Nottinghamshire to Radcliffe-on-Soar Power Station. Due to the out-of-gauge nature of some of the equipment Merritts arranged police escorts to provide road assistance and closures to ensure safe delivery of equipment over the 26 mile route. 

Merritts removed items from inside its warehouses using Versalift technology and, following a pre-arranged loading plan, the Versalifts manoeuvred the items on to four flatbed trailers which were lashed down securely. Once the trailers were ready and the police escorts had arrived, onward transit could begin.
