UK subsidiary Kemppi (UK)
supply welding equipment to
shipyards, with welding
technology and process
interchange between Kemppi
and the yards playing a major
role in the design and
development of both
equipment and software.

This was apparent in the
Kemppi equipment that
helped STX Europe’s Shipyard
in Turku, Finland, build Royal
Caribbean International’s
‘Oasis of the Seas’ cruise liner.

Among the equipment
used to weld the 2400km of
seams, Fitweld 300 is a
lightweight, compact, robust
MIG/MAG inverter welder,
specifically designed for
shipbuilding and heavy
fabrication to replace
traditional MMA tack
welding techniques, with its
slow welding speeds, high
labour costs and large use of
energy.

MIG/MAG tack welding is
much faster, more efficient,
produces higher quality
welds, requires less input
power and the power source
is lighter.
