Energy for its Flash Recovery Energy
Management Equipment, Spirax
Sarco was recently a runner-up in
the Industry category of the 2009
Carbon Trust Innovation Awards.
The company estimates that FREME has saved about 10,000t of CO2 to date in the UK and this is expected to increase to about 100,000t over the next five years.
FREME provides a closed steam, system and transfers heat from the flash steam and recovered condensate into the high pressure side of boiler feed pumps. Feedtank temperatures can exceed 100°C without causing pump cavitation, so virtually all returned energy is used by the system.
