Ethernet receiver unit for wireless monitoring kit
02 June 2015
WERMA offers a simple wireless monitoring system for machines, equipment and manual work stations which, it says, is quite different from traditional complex monitoring systems.
The system, called WIN (Wireless Information Network), is easy to install or even retrofit. Without the need for hard wiring and cabling it is easy to monitor even remote areas.
A signal tower serves as the interface to which is fitted a transmitter unit – plug and play – which then will transmit status changes to a receiver. The status change data from all transmitters is collected safely and stored in SQL.
The new Master/receiver is available as an option to the USB receiver unit and offers a simple advantage over the traditional USB WIN Master which required a host PC for it to operate.
The new Ethernet Master connects directly to the corporate network. It is identified on the network by IP address and can be physically sited anywhere with an Ethernet connection (and a mains socket for power). The software can be run on the server, avoiding the danger of someone unplugging the PC; users would all be connected as Clients.
You can have a mix of USB and Ethernet masters on the network so, for example, you could extend an installation to a machine shop in another building by adding an Ethernet Master and hooking up the new slaves to it.
