Smart manufacturing and innovative collaboration

20 October 2016

Smart machines and smart collaboration are two of the main highlights on the Rockwell Automation stand (Hall 9, Stand 205) at this year’s SPS IPC Drives.

The company will be showing a range of smart manufacturing options that illustrate how manufacturers can use The Connected Enterprise principles to boost productivity, yield and efficiency. For smart collaboration, visitors will be able to see a sneak preview of its innovative project Stanton – an app platform for production workers’ mobile devices that provides companies with a significant productivity boost, allowing faster issue detection and collaborative problem solving.

Another highlight at the Rockwell Automation stand will be live demos of iTRAK, the company’s innovative intelligent track system. iTRAK is a modular, scalable linear motor system that allows for independent control of multiple movers on straight or curvilinear paths. An additional motion control highlight is MagneMotion, comprising patented, high-performance conveyor systems with servo-controlled and independent cart technology.

A new member of the PowerFlex AC Drives family has its European premiere at this year’s SPS IPC Drives. Demonstrating precision motor control along with solutions for energy recovery and flexible configuration options, this product will be unveiled at the Rockwell Automation 2016 Automation Fair event at the beginning of November.

Engineering tools are one area in which Rockwell Automation excels and therefore it will be presenting live demos of its Studio 5000 Automation Engineering & Design Environment. New capabilities will be shown including View Designer, Application Code Manager, Architect and updates to its Logix Designer tools.

Two new control families from Rockwell Automation demonstrate the capability of compact controllers to manage even complex machines. The 5380 CompactLogix with Compact I/O is well suited for manufacturers looking for a high-speed solution, while the 5580 ControlLogix portfolio is designed for use with particularly large, complex machines.

Visualisation solutions help companies see their data and processes more clearly on their way to implementing Connected Enterprise principles. With PanelView Plus 7 and PanelView 5000 Rockwell Automation will be showcasing its latest HMI developments.

Companies whose main concern is securing their equipment or their manufacturing plants will be especially interested in the security solutions. Jointly developed with Cisco, a global Strategic Alliance in the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork, these solutions are designed to help protect critical data networks, processes and machine assets from physical and cyber-threats.

With a range of interactive demos and pods dedicated to specific solutions, visitors will have plenty of opportunities to be inspired and experience multiple aspects of The Connected Enterprise.
