Shuttles deliver improved efficiency

04 December 2017

Kardex Remstar has built its shuttles’ to optimise storage space in a compact footprint.

The Shuttle XP is an automated high bay warehousing system with a modular design operating on the 'goods to person' principle. This technology has helped reduce the physical demands of warehouse activities, and allows for lean production.

The shuttles sort products in optimised sequences to minimise machine runtimes. Subsequently, there are decreasing picking times that benefit both the customer and company. Kardex says multiple orders can be fulfilled at the same time.

The Shuttle XP enables a high capacity in a small footprint to be implemented. The system is said to require a footprint that is up to 80% smaller. Hydravalve reports that Kardex shuttle XPs have enabled them to increase storage capacity by 45% through using their vertical space from floor to ceiling, and 25% floor space has been recovered.
