Aircare Compressor Services expands sales team

Steve Flint has been appointed as sales director and John Morley as a new sales engineer.

The business, which is celebrating 35 years of trading, has doubled in size in the past 15 years, now employing 26 members of staff from its offices in Corby, Nottingham and Leicester.

"We are delighted to welcome Steve and John to Aircare. Our customers have increasingly complex compressed air demands that can meet requirements for improved energy performance and lower lifetime costs. With their strong backgrounds in systems for complex manufacturing applications, they are a welcome addition to the team as we look to develop more bespoke solutions," explained Aircare MD Wendy Hayward.

"We have been a CompAir distributor for the past 30 years, helping our customers specify from the complete portfolio of air compressors, air treatment equipment, vacuum pumps and blowers. We also offer full compressed air support, including installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of compressed air systems. 

Expanding in Derbyshire 

"In recent years, we have grown our customer base in the aerospace and precision engineering sectors, especially in the Derbyshire region and need more workshop and stores’ space to hold genuine compressor spares and to carry out quality repairs. Plans are therefore already underway to open a new facility in Derbyshire in 2026, with a view to expanding our team further still."

Championing apprenticeships

Aircare has been championing the recruitment of apprentices and junior engineers and is upskilling its entire engineering team with the newly-launched British Compressed Air Society (BCAS) NVQ Compressed Air Pathway. The NVQ was developed in part to address the competency concerns raised by the Construction Leadership Council regarding personnel working on construction sites. 

The resulting Compressed Air Pathway is recognised by the Building Engineering and Services Association as a formal industry standard, including Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) recognition.

"Recruiting skilled engineers continues to be an industry-wide challenge and we are seeing increasingly high demand from our customers to prove engineering competency," Hayward stated.

"Facilities managers and principal contractors alike are starting to mandate evidence of certain engineering skills, even for existing, as opposed to purely new-build sites. The new NVQ is helping us demonstrate our technical expertise and provide reassurance that quality and safety standards will be met."

An active member of the British Compressed Society (BCAS), Hayward is the current vice president and is due to become president in November this year.
