UK manufacturing should be celebrated

29 July 2020

The ability of the manufacturing industry to generate added value to the UK economy has proved to be invaluable down the years, helping the country bounce back from recession on more than one occasion. It will do so again.

The ingenuity and resilience of the industry is its strength, allied with the ability of our engineers to devise increasingly innovative solutions to ever more complex challenges. UK manufacturing should rightly be celebrated for what it has accomplished and the people who work in it, recognised for their enormous contribution.

During the four days of MACH 2021, we intend to do just that. MACH is a content-led event that brings together the latest advanced engineering and manufacturing technologies - in operation and all under one roof. As such, it really is the UK’s National Manufacturing showcase, complete with a vibrant seminar programme, as well as a multitude of must-see exhibits, demonstrations and networking opportunities, while the Education and Development Zone is all set to attract the next generation of engineers into the sector.

MACH will be back at the NEC between 25-28th January 2021 and it is our constant goal to provide value and engagement for visitors and exhibitors alike, for this reason we are delighted that HS2 Ltd will be exhibiting at the event. The new high-speed railway will play an important role in revitalising the UK economy over the coming decades and as such, offers a wealth of opportunities for the UK manufacturing sector. The company is keen to connect and work with the highly skilled UK supply chain so its participation in MACH 2021 is a win for both parties. With the focus on future technologies, visitors will also get the latest updates from the High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centre and the Made Smarter programme, both will be showing what they can offer and how they can assist companies with the transition into the digital future.

An exciting part of the Education and Development Zone at MACH 2021 will be provided by Airbus Defence & Space, which will be displaying its ExoMars Rover ground demonstration model, ‘Bruno’. Bruno is the Earth-based testing model of its counterpart the ‘Rosalind Franklin’ Rover, which will ultimately search for life on Mars.

MACH’s core machine tool sector will also be well represented at the event with leading manufacturers keen to exhibit their latest machines. Many, such as Mills CNC and Star Micronics GB are strong advocates of the event because of the ability it offers them to showcase their full range of products. Both have resigned to appear at MACH 2021 and we are grateful for their support, as we are to the hundreds of other companies who have signed up to exhibit.

Seminar programme

The informative and engaging seminar programme features some of the industry’s best-known figures and we are delighted that all speakers will be joining us again for the rescheduled event.

Away from the exhibition halls, MACH 2021 will also coincide with the MTA’s Annual Dinner, which takes place on Tuesday 26th January at the VOX conference centre in the heart of the Resorts World complex on the NEC campus. MTA members and invited guests from across the manufacturing spectrum will be attending in what is traditionally, one of the highlights of the industry calendar.

MACH has always been the place to see real innovation come to life

MACH has always been the place to see real innovation come to life. Manufacturers and engineers come out in force to support the UK’s national show and see first-hand how technology is developing. As such, MACH will be the perfect way to kick start 2021 and we are delighted to see other complimentary shows taking place alongside the week of MACH in January.

Check out our website – www.machexhibition.com - to see the full exhibitor list and for more details on how to be there.

It really will be an unmissable event for the UK manufacturing and engineering community, and I look forward to welcoming you all.

Until then, stay safe.

James Selka, DL, CEO, MTA
