aeration equipment that will
deliver energy cost savings of
£37,000/year.
Anglian Water approached Deritend to replace several 'jet' type aerators with the aim of improving the efficiency of the aeration process in four cascaded tanks.
Deritend undertook a survey of the site and submitted a proposal including supply and installation of Landy-7 aerators from Landustrie.
The savings Deritend identified were enough to convince Anglian Water to proceed with the project, which included removal of old submersible units, installation of new equipment including bottom baffles and foundation plates, and testing for vibration, noise, splashing and oxygen transfer.
The project took two weeks to complete, after which energy savings were calculated, confirming original estimates. Power consumption of the original set up was 88kW, at an annual energy cost of £66,000. The refitted site performed at 33.2kW, costing £29,000 per annum.
