Following an order for an integrated
control and safety system, ABB has
been awarded a contract for integrated
telecoms systems, including CCTV,
security and communications for an
E.ON site in Cheshire that will store
gas in eight salt caverns.
Gas compressors optimise the pressure of gas stored and withdrawn from the caverns into the National Grid Transmission System. The plant will be controlled by ABB Extended Automation System 800xA and integrated with telecoms systems giving a single point of access and control for operational personnel.
The telecoms scope includes: CCTV (perimeter surveillance and plant monitoring); access control/ intrusion detection; fixed telephones, site-wide mobile radio system; PA systems; and fibre optic network.
