Fox's Biscuits in Preston has installed an EasiHeat Engineered System from Spirax Sarco. The factory found its system of two, 1000L calorifiers couldn't keep up with demand from the site's cleaning operations, especially at weekends.

Now, the EasiHeat system uses a steam-to-hot water plate heat exchanger to provide domestic hot water on demand. The compact system was supplied skid-mounted ready to connect to the site's utilities.

Spirax Sarco says this approach is typically more energy efficient than systems relying on stored hot water because it avoids significant heat loss.

Fox's can use its calorifiers as buffers. The system is set up so that EasiHeat feeds the factory's taps directly on demand and can maintain the temperature in the buffer vessels when it would otherwise be idle.
