Mitutoyo inks skills deal

Mitutoyo UK has signed an exclusive agreement with WorldSkills International to be Bronze sponsors of WorldSkills London 2011.

Mitutoyo UK is pleased to announce that it has signed an exclusive agreement with WorldSkills International, as Bronze sponsors of WorldSkills London 2011.

WorldSkills London 2011 - the world's largest, international skills competition − will showcase how skills shape our world.

The competition brings together young people from across the globe to compete to become the best of the best. At stake: the honour of being the greatest in the world at their chosen skill.

Every community and business in the UK thrives on skills, enterprise and inspiration. WorldSkills London 2011 - which takes place from 5th-8th October 2011 at ExCeL London - aims to be the catalyst that sparks the ambitions not just of competitors but of young people across the UK.

Mitutoyo UK Ltd are supporting the Manufacturing (and Engineering) Technology section of the WorldSkills London 2011, supplying some 400 measurement instruments and Coordinate Measuring Machines as sole providers of measurement solutions.

Mitutoyo Measurement Specialists and Training Instructors will also be on-site throughout the event, assisting the adjudicators by measuring the work-pieces made by the competitors, and offering guidance to visitors on practical measurement applications and career options in the field of Metrology.

David Thomson, md of Mitutoyo UK explains why they were keen to get involved with WorldSkills: “Following successful involvement from Mitutoyo at Worldskills in Calgary, Canada in 2009 and Shizuoka, Japan in 2007, we were keen to get involved and support WorldSkills in London in 2011.

"Our company ethos has always been that in order to achieve the best in measurement, you need to invest inpeople, and so we are wholeheartedly investing in WorldSkills as it aims in inspire and inform the youth of today who will of course become the engineers of tomorrow.”
