Davit cranes increase maximum working loads

The latest Penny Hydraulics Davit Cranes have higher maximum working loads, up to 995kg, optional electric winches and integrated fall-arrest to offer utility and service engineering organisations greater handling versatility.
The latest Penny Hydraulics Davit Cranes have higher maximum working loads, up to 995kg, optional electric winches and integrated fall-arrest to offer utility and service engineering organisations greater handling versatility.
Cranes like these are ideal for tasks which require simple and effective below-ground handling of plant and machinery when it is impractical or impossible to use other forms of lifting equipment.
The new models include the DC995 for maximum loads up to 995kg, the DC995BE with boom extension for loads up to 500kg and 300kg at 1.9 and 2.2m working radius respectively and the DC500BE which can handle loads up to 125kg when fitted with its boom extension.
These complement the original DC500 which offers 500kg maximum working load. Each unit is designed to mount into the industry standard socket used by many utility companies at pumping stations and similar facilities.
The DC500 models can be used with a normal hand chain block which is simply attached via a shackle to the boom. In this configuration the crane supports the simplest possible operation and can be used in any situation where a local power supply is not available. For enhanced performance and safety, all models can be fitted with a compact electric winch, also supplied by Penny Hydraulics, without affecting the maximum working load.
The winch can be connected to a pumping station's control unit or the power socket in the user's vehicle, whichever is more convenient, using the cable supplied with the device. The winch is controlled by a remote wander lead which is also supplied as standard. In-built protection prevents overloads or damage to equipment whilst lifting.
The cranes can also be supplied with integral fall-arrest points to offer peace of mind to operatives working over deep wells. Cranes comply with BS EN 795:1997 for anchor points and also meet the BS EN 364:1993 standard.
