GlassGuard's BlackBand lamp coatings have been tested by a leading UK test laboratory.

A drop test after 50,000 burning hours showed no degradation of the lamp's fragment retention qualities.

The company says this is an important confirmation of the effectiveness and longevity of the BlackBand coating, which protects products, profits and personnel by retaining glass fragments in case of accidental lamp breakage.

The long life protection provided by the GlassGuard BlackBand range of fluorescent lamps exceeds the minimum requirement for IEC 61549 (BS EN 61549) Fragment Retention Lamp Standard. The coating retains its mechanical properties throughout the life of the lamp.

A lumen test carried out at the same time recorded a lumen loss of less than 1%.
