2-pole motor

ABB has introduced a new 2-pole
motor to complete its high voltage
modular induction range.
With the new motor, the range extends from IEC frame size 400 to 800, covering all general high voltage needs.
The motor is said to be especially suitable for driving water injection pumps on FPSOs (floating production, storage and offloading units), main oil pipeline pumps, and applications in chemical, oil and gas installations, water and wastewater treatment plants. The new motor can be operated with supplies from 6 to 13.8kV. It is initially targeted at fixed speed applications to 3000 rpm with directon- line connection. VSD operation is possible, but the speed range is fixed on a case-bycase basis. For use in explosive atmospheres, the available protection types are nonsparking (Ex n) and pressurised (Ex p).
Vibratibration levels are low, as are maintenance requirements.
