UK matting manufacturer Plastic Extruders is delighted to be one of the sponsors of 'The Coldest Journey', which takes on one of the last remaining polar challenges: an attempt to cross Antarctica in winter.

Over six months the expedition's Ice Team will travel more than 2000 miles, mostly in darkness and in temperatures as low as -90?C.

Plastic Extruders has donated Heronrib and Vynagrip matting for use in the expedition's two cabooses being towed in specially adapted vehicles. One is the main living caboose and the other includes mechanical workshops. Heronrib matting, which is slip resistant and impregnated with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal additives, is being used in the bathroom and boot rooms, while Vynagrip matting has been laid on the floor of the plant rooms to provide a safe and slip resistant surface.
