Assembly tools dramatically cut energy chain opening times
06 December 2013
Tribo-polymer expert igus has designed five new specialist tools for opening its energy chains, cutting the manual work time to open a metre length of chain from 33 seconds to within just 2 seconds. This speed and simplicity of operation also helps minimise machinery downtime dramatically.
"Dismantling and reassembling energy chains with a simple screwdriver is easy,” explains Justin Leonard, director at igus, "but when using igus purpose-designed assembly tools, energy chains can be opened in a fraction of the time.”
Each of the tools perform a specific task; from opening of E4.216, E6.29, and E61.29 energy chain series; inserting separators, locking separators or shelves to crossbar opening. Keeping costs down further, the grips and top pieces of these special tools can be ordered separately for easy replacement. In addition, for customers not wishing to carry out these operations, services from simple assembling through to fully-customised design and build right up to installation and commissioning are readily available through igus.
