Taking the pressure off grinding tasks
14 August 2014
Following the launch of its high pressure Cubitron II Cloth Belt 984F, 3M has launched an abrasive belt for medium-to-low pressure applications which, like its predecessor, incorporates precision shaped grain (PSG) technology.

3M says field test results show Cubitron II File Belt 947A can deliver up to three times the life and up to two times the cut rate versus conventional ceramic belts, meaning fewer belt changes are required, increasing production rates and saving time and money.
The new belts are made with X-weight poly-cotton backing so they are more flexible than the originalCubitron II Cloth Belt 984F, making them suitable for use in operations using backstands, file belt and inline and stroke sanders.
In addition, a new grade of 120+ has been added in the Cubitron II Range so now there is an improved solution for finer finishing applications. As with 984F, 947A includes a grinding aid for use on stainless steel and heat sensitive metals as well as working well on carbon steels.
