Metal-free Anti-Seize released

15 August 2014

LOCTITE 8009, the metal-free Anti-Seize from Henkel, is described as the perfect toolbox product because it is truly universal in its application.

It is compatible with stainless steel and titanium and also provides excellent chemical and temperature resistance for reliable, long term lubrication of slow moving components. And now it is also available in a handy screw-capped can with an integral brush.

Henkel entered the anti-seize market when it bought the company that developed the first copper-based product.  Indeed it still manufactures anti-seize that uses copper or aluminium to provide lubrication at high temperatures. However, in line with its continuous development policy, Henkel has now also perfected several complementary products.

LOCTITE 8009 is one of them and it offers distinct benefits for the maintenance engineer.

Traditionally anti-seizes use metal fillers to provide lubrication when operating temperatures are high. These fillers can, however, have a detrimental effect on other metals such as stainless steel and titanium, increasing the potential for stress cracking.

LOCTITE 8009 differs in that it replaces the metal fillers with those that are mineral based. As a result, it can be used on all metals and is also able to withstand temperatures up to 1315 deg C, providing maintenance engineers with a high performance anti-seize for all applications. It lubricates the surface, protects it against corrosion and also resists high pressure as well as temperatures.

This newly packaged all-purpose anti-seize is part of a family of products that also includes those that are tailored precisely to specific industry requirements. For example, there is a LOCTITE Anti-Seize with PMUC approval for use in nuclear power plants and a marine-grade version with American Bureau of Shipping certification that is resistant to salt water.

LOCTITE Anti-Seizes ease both assembly and disassembly of close fitting metal surfaces, such as interference fits and threaded joints, by reducing friction and wear on critical operating equipment. They are formulated for use in harsh industrial conditions, including high temperatures, heavy loads, chemical environments, pounding and vibration.

Thanks to their composition, they are suited to static and boundary friction conditions generated by a combination of low speed and high pressure, effectively preventing direct contact between parts.
