Colour recognition and no misting
31 October 2014
uvex has developed a grey-tint welding filter lens, which gives 100% ultraviolet and infrared protection, reduces glare and is said to give perfect natural colour recognition in accordance with EN172.

Correct colour vision is vital in welding tasks where safety can depend on the correct recognition of colours in safety signs and signals, in areas such as foundries, steelworks, aerospace or engineering. According to the HSE, a person with a colour vision defect perceives a wide range of different colours as being the same, and often is not aware of their defective colour vision until costly mistakes are made.
New to the market, uvex’s grey welding filter lenses, which come in three different shades of grey, feature the permanent anti-fog lens coating technology uvex infradur AF, which prevents the inside of the lenses misting up. The scratch-resistant coating on the outside of the lens is reported to give excellent levels of protection against damage from welding sparks.
The range comprises uvex’s spectacle, uvex super fit welding, the fully adjustable uvex i-vo welding spectacle, the uvex super F OTG welding over spec and the uvex ultrasonic flip up welding goggle. They all come with different welding lens shade options.
