RFID active tags
02 December 2014
Through a new partnership with RFID hardware company Wavetrend, Red Ledge has added active tag technology to its existing RFID portfolio and plans to launch a series of active tag-based, higher-value asset management solutions for supply chain and manufacturing, energy and construction users.

Like RFID passive tags, active tags can be scanned by an RFID reader at almost twice the speed of conventional bar-codes, with near-100% accuracy, and no line of sight: but they also have their own power source and emit a repeating signal up to 150m that alters if an object – typically, a higher-value asset– is moved.
Active tags are rugged, can withstand harsh conditions and support a wide range of sensor technology.
