Bridging the skills gap: Free half-day seminar
17 April 2015
The MTA and Manufacturing Technologies Centre (MTC) have teamed up to present a seminar on 'Bridging the Skills Gap'. The free half-day seminar will take place on 12th May 2015 and will include a number of speakers, lunch and a tour of the MTC's facilities.

Speakers include:
• Steve Gasser- MTC
• Paul Schofield- head of corporate affairs, BAE Systems- Talent Retention Solution
• Suzanne Wells- operations manager, National Physical Laboratory
• Tim Thorburn- Craftsman Tools (Manufacturing Industry awards Training Scheme of the year)
The speakers will cover a range of topics – from how businesses can access high quality engineers through TRS, to how smaller businesses can tackle taking on apprentices. Presentations will focus both on bringing in new recruits and developing the talents of existing staff.
MTA CEO, James Selka, said: "It is widely recognised that there is a skills gap within the manufacturing industry. It is our duty along with our partners at the MTC to ensure this gap shortens and give companies the necessary skills to implement change.”
He continued: "This event is the ideal opportunity to engage with industry and set the wheels in motion to bridge this gap and introduce a new generation of engineers into the manufacturing sector.”
