Double appointment

20 July 2015

HBM has appointed Omer Mir as field sales engineer for the North of England and Rob Farnell, UK applications engineer.

Mir brings a wealth of experience in the electronic test and measurement field which has involved providing test equipment solutions for a number of high profile companies including BAe, Babcock, Rolls Royce, Nissan, Pace, Echostar, Alstom and ST Microelectronics

Responsible for sales in the North of England, he will be directly focusing on the Genesis HighSpeed range of Transient Recorders and Data Acquisition Systems available from HBM.

Farnell has a background in R&D, material testing and quality. He is specialising in strain gauge applications at customer sites on components, structures, machines and materials, and measurement of values for experimental stress analysis.  He will also focus on data capture and monitoring and interpretation and reporting of test results and providing valuable customer support and training.

Farnell made the decision to apply for the RSM post at HBM as he was familiar and impressed with the products which he initially used as a customer, prior to joining the HBM team.  He explains: "I’ve always had a keen interest in engineering testing so joining the HBM team was the obvious way forward for me. I hope to offer HBM enthusiasm and a problem solving approach to process improvement and validation, in addition to resolving any customer issues which may arise. I’m confident that my BSSM Level 2 qualification and strain gauge and sensor experience will not only serve existing customers but also capitalise on all the new and exciting opportunities emerging in our industry”.

Mir and Farnell will work closely together on the calibration service offered by HBM.
