Automatic table blast
14 October 2015
Wabtec Rail, specialist in overhaul and repair of railway rolling stock, has increased capacity for servicing buffer components and wheels at its South Yorkshire premises with the installation of a second self-contained Doug Booth automatic Table Blast.

The machine blasts components with cut wire pellets to remove many paint layers applied over the years of service plus all corrosion, leaving a keyed bright metal finish in preparation for refinishing and servicing.
The Table Blast incorporates a 1500 x 1200 work chamber with double doors at the front, the abrasive (metal pellets) is thrown mechanically by a centrifugal hard metal bladed wheel rotating at 3000rpm onto the workpiece as it rotates in the blast stream.
