Supporting nacelle test stand

16 March 2016

HBM has supplied its Genesis DAQ system with Perception software to the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES), to create Germany’s first full scale nacelle test stand.

Designed to test complete nacelles, the new stand will be used at the Dynamic Nacelle Testing Laboratory in Bremerhaven, which provides a realistic testing environment in the multi-megawatt field for all manufacturers of wind energy turbines.

The HBM Genesis HighSpeed data acquisition system and transient recorder will be used alongside Perception software, in the test laboratory, as part of a complete system for acquiring electrical quantities.

The Genesis data acquisition instrument synchronously acquires both the currents and the voltages at the network connection points of wind turbines of up to 36kV with very high sample rates. The sophisticated design of the user interface, which is based on Perception data acquisition software, ensures ease of use, even of highly complex systems.

The measurement system’s modular architecture also means the overall concept can be adapted to new customer requirements at any given time, making it both flexible and future proof.

Simple to use, the range of Genesis HighSpeed transient recorders and data acquisition systems from HBM share the highest sample rates and mid to high channel counts.

Used with professional HBM software Perception, large amounts of data can be provided quickly and reliably. Featuring StatStream technology, Perception enables 10GB of data to be visualised within 10 seconds, resulting in minimal waiting times. In addition to ‘live’ data feeds, the software enables users to view saved data whilst recording continues in the background.
