Hush, hush approach to new flooring

15 May 2018

Norbord Europe has significantly added to its chipboard flooring portfolio with CaberAcoustic. Designed for both domestic and non-domestic applications, CaberAcoustic comprises 28mm and 32mm variants of tongue-and-grooved particleboard panels, with a 10mm sound reducing layer bonded to the underside.

This specially-designed layer, made in the UK from recycled felt, reduces impact noise transmission by up to 19dB. It also helps reduce airborne noise when used as part of an appropriate flooring system.

The board’s tongue-and-grooved edge profile gives a tight, easily-fitting joint and maximum strength when fixed using Norbord’s CaberFix D3 adhesive.

CaberAcoustic gives its best sound reducing performance when installed with a perimeter flanking strip (available in 50m rolls) to reduce sound transference around the edge of the floor deck.

Norbord is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of engineered wood-based panel products. All products are FSC-certified and used extensively in the construction, DIY and furniture sectors. Norbord’s brands, SterlingOSB, CaberBoard, CaberWood MDF and ContiBoard are well known and are commonly specified by architects, national housebuilders and specifiers.
