Chell Instruments launches 2432T 32-channel thermocouple temperature scanner

27 June 2025

CHELL INSTRUMENTS has launched the 2432T to facilitate the measurement of temperature in industrial, aerospace and other demanding applications.

The 2432T measures all types of thermocouples with high accuracy and at high speed and outputs the data over the wide range of interfaces that Chell uses (including Modbus and iDDS). This makes the 2432T an ideal companion product with our extensive range of pressure scanners or a robust temperature measurement device in its own right.

"At Chell Instruments, we’re always pushing the boundaries of scanner and sensor technology. Many of our customers, including those working on gas turbine and jet engine testing and development, require the measurement of temperature in addition to pressure. The 2432T has been specifically designed to deliver this," said Jamie Shanahan, director of Chell Instruments.

The 2432T enables users to gather and compare temperature data through use of a wide variety of thermocouple types. It also helps with standardisation across test facilities through use of the same communication protocols, electrical interface types, features and accessories as the pressure data acquisition range - while also benefiting from the exceptional performance that Chell is known for.

Accurately measuring 32 thermocouple inputs, and the corresponding cold junction temperatures (utilising a high integrity copper UTR), the 2432T outputs 32-bit engineering unit data over a number of configurable communication protocols including the Chell native protocol (TCP/IP or UDP), IENA, iDDS or Netscanner emulation mode.

The advanced real-time open circuit detection system used will not only indicate the presence of shorts or breaks in the thermocouples but will also give the user a measurement of the thermocouple impedance – a really useful feature in the complex test environments that we operate in.

As a continuing feature in Chell Instruments products, the 2432T includes Power over Ethernet (PoE) or conventional DC supply as standard, auto-detected by the device.

All these features are contained within a package that can be used over a wide temperature range and in high vibration environments – tested to D0160G in the same way as all other Chell scanning products.

"The 2432T is a natural extension of our industrial scanner product line, directly complementing our pressure scanner products such as the 2432, 2416, flightDAQ and microDAQ. It’s ideal for the measurement of temperature in industrial processes, energy production, power generation, propulsion and pharmaceuticals," added Shanahan.

North Walsham-based Chell Instruments have been providing pressure, vacuum and gas flow measurement equipment since 1976.

With their specialist technology supporting key sectors, including aerospace, pharmaceuticals, energy and motorsport, Chell Instruments are regularly developing their product with new innovations.

"We’re excited to continually develop the advanced instrumentation that defines us as industry leaders in pressure and temperature sensing solutions to meet the evolving demands of modern testing environments," he concluded.
