On course for record attendance
05 December 2019
Southern Manufacturing & Electronics returns to Farnborough from February 11th to 13th 2020. As with previous years, the 2020 event will feature its diverse exhibitor list spanning a wide variety of engineering activities, from high-tech machine tools and automation to components and subcontract services. Firms from across the UK will be present, plus a sizeable number of off-shore exhibitors from across Europe, Asia and the Far East.
The organisers expect the 20,000m² Farnborough International Exhibition Centre to be filled to capacity, and are confident of surpassing last year’s record-breaking attendance which came close to 9,000 people. With so many categories of products on show in one place, it is a great way to deal with multiple procurement challenges in short space of time. Simply put, no matter what you are looking for, you are extremely likely to find it at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics.
The show is one of the best places in Europe to see the latest machinery in action. For 2020, Matsuura will showcase its popular single table 5-axis MX-520 CNC machine tool and HP Multi-Jet Fusion 580 3D printer. Specifically for Southern 2020, Matsuura will be machining live on the MX-520, making use of fixtures and work-holding produced on the HP Multi-Jet Fusion 4200 3D printer, operating in harmony to demonstrate the hybrid additive and subtractive production procedures available to UK companies. Hurco will be displaying the versatile and streamlined Hurco VM10i machining centre and the Hurco TM8i 2-axis CNC lathe.
Trumpf returns for 2020, exhibiting its broad range of sheet metal fabrication machinery and industrial lasers, in addition to 3D printing systems, power tools and electronics. Boxford will be displaying a recent addition in its portfolio of C02 laser cutting and engraving machines, together with a new, fibre laser marking system, the BFM110 Fibre Marking Laser, a compact but powerful bench top machine capable of marking a wide selection of metals, coated metals as well as some non-metals. Some of the other big machinery brands presenting in 2020 include Bystronic, C. Dugard, Haas Automation, XYZ Machine Tools and Yamazaki Mazak, plus 3D print solutions from Laser Lines, Create3D and CDG 3D Systems.
Product launches
Aside from the machinery exhibits, there is a treasure trove of plant and production hardware. New equipment being launched at the show include five new models from Automated Cable Solutions stand and a thermal wire stripper designed to prevent common most problems associated with mechanical strippers and hand tools to be launched by Hakko. Blum will be showing the latest iteration of its recently introduced Digilog probe series, designed to bring the integration and everyday use of fully automated solutions within reach of even the smallest of CNC machining companies. Faro highlights its recently launched 8-Axis Quantum ScanArm, which integrates an eighth axis into the company’s Quantum FaroArm to make it the world’s first eight-axis portable co-ordinate measuring machine (PCMM), says the company.
Guhring will exhibit a number of new products, including the new Guhring RF Speed milling range that has been developed for the machining of very tough materials. Bott, will be showcasing a selection of products from its heavy-duty cubio range, which can be combined to create versatile working solutions which can be seamlessly expanded as business needs change. The range also integrates with the company’s wide range of CNC and tool storage options, incorporating Lean, 5S and Six Sigma initiatives. Dustcontrol UK will present its range of cyclone-based fixed dust extraction equipment, portable dust extractors and accessories for industrial and construction use.
Free seminar programme
The show’s free seminar programme is another popular feature of the show. Two programmes run in tandem in two theatres over three days, tackling a variety of topics including technology, innovation, business management, marketing and current industrial regulations. Full details will be available online at www.industrysouth.co.uk in the New Year.
Farnborough International Conference and Exhibition Centre offers complimentary car parking for 3,500 vehicles and is well-served by road and public transport links. A regular free shuttle bus service operates from both of Farnborough’s mainline railway stations directly to the exhibition. The venue itself provides a high standard of facilities including a complimentary WiFi service in the foyer area as well as high quality catering outlets.
Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2020 opens from February 11th to 13th. Admission to the exhibition is free of charge. More information and tickets are available from www.industrysouth.co.uk
