Many machine manufacturers may
be inadvertently relying on out-ofdate
standards to demonstrate
compliance with the Machinery
Directive, warns Laidler Associates.
Only standards harmonised with the current Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, which came into force at the end of December 2009, can now be used to demonstrate compliance. Many companies, however, are continuing to reference superseded standards that were harmonised with the previous, and now obsolete,Machinery Directive.
Laidler has devoted a lot of time and effort to researching and keeping up-to-date with developments relating to EU Directives and standards. Its expertise is at the disposal of its clients. The company believes its fees are small compared with the potential costs associated with non-compliance.
