Denca has secured a major control system contract with Endress+Hauser, for United Utilities'Mersey Valley Processing Centre, Shell Green.

Part of a £90m contract to be handled by joint contractors Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies and Costain, the task involves construction of a major wastewater sludge incineration facility at the sewerage dewatering and incineration centre.

When complete, energy from the incineration process will be recovered to create plant steam and, ultimately, generate electricity for delivery back to the National Grid. Via the use of a threestage flue gas-cleaning process the scheme will meet strict Environment Agency PPC (Pollution Prevention and Control) regulations.

Responsible for the design, engineering, support and installation of all cabling systems, including feeder cables, supplies to motors, discreet I/OS, PLC and PROFIBUS instrumentation, Denca was selected for its considerable control systems expertise.
