Elettric 80 says it is challenging the
notion that only production
companies benefit from automation.
It says distribution centres can be automated by laser guided vehicles, to increase both efficiency and safety while reducing costs.
Such systems can be implemented in existing warehouse environments with little or no site modification required. Different types of LGVs are available, capable of transporting one or more pallets at a time. The company's Giraffe, for example, is a single pallet reach truck that can handle goods at 11m high. The reprogrammable systems adapt to most methods, for instance blockstacking, drive-in racks and narrow aisle racking. The company says that personal safety is increased due to centimetre-precision handling and advanced safety technology.
