A new type of safety eyewear has been unveiled by safety equipment specialist uvex. The 'super fit variomatic' darkens within seconds of exposure to UV light, while quickly reverting to its former state as UV light is reduced. This allows the wearer to move safely from indoors to outdoors and back again wearing the same pair of specs.

The uvex super fit eyewear is said to afford the wearer a high level of comfort and clear vision. Features include a double-sided scratchresistant lens coating, secure fit and sporty, lightweight design.

The hard-wearing specs are available in a choice of frame colours and lens options that allow differing levels of light transmission, depending on whether most of the work takes place indoors or outdoors.

Graham Abbott, sales director, comments: "The simple idea of safety specs with light sensitive lenses takes the hassle out of moving between different environments, while at the same time protecting staff from potential hazards to the health of their eyes."
