A large flour milling company has reclassified its mills from agricultural processing to food processing and new procedures are being adopted.

Breakage of V belts driving sterilising equipment was viewed as a potential catastrophic circumstance.

Should belts break, contaminated flour could get into the milling process, incurring time and financial losses. SensSystems was approached with the view to fitting Sensslip Critical belt monitoring devices to the sterilising equipment.

SensSystems produces a range of belt monitors including Sensslip Energy for energy wastage indication, Sensslip Maintenance and Sensslip Critical which monitors belt slippage and in the event of belt breakage or load stall circumstances can switch off the steriliser's drive motor or raise an alarm in an asset management system. The success of the system has prompted the milling company to install units at all critical control points across its asset base.
