Sensonics has added a new option to its range of proximity probes which, it says, virtually eliminates the detrimental effects on measurements caused by both side and rear targets.

The new PRSVBeam offers a fully protected rear and side view through complete metallic encapsulation of the probe sensor assembly and its special tip design provides a beam effect towards the target resulting in good linearity, even if fitted with the tip flush to the machine case or mounting assembly. At the extreme end of the probe range the effect is a 0.5% measurement error which reduces to less than 0.2% in the middle of the measurement range.

Another benefit claimed for this tip design is its ability to withstand pressures to 300bar and to provide sensor tip protection when used in heavy particle based fluids.
