Climaveneta UK (formerly
Walter Meier) has supplied
three 600kW air-cooled
chillers for use in process
cooling at the Heinz facility
in Kendal, helping improve
energy efficiency.
The full turnkey service included installation of the chillers and new ancillary plant, as well as removal of old chillers and cooling towers. Climaveneta says that changing to air-cooled chillers will help reduce the environmental impact associated with chemical water treatment and result in lower maintenance costs. "Given the age of the plant and our increased demand it was clear that we needed to install new chillers," says site maintenance manager John Whittaker. "At the same time it was essential to avoid disrupting production so the project management aspect was very important." The new chillers are mounted on a specially constructed outdoor concrete plinth and Climaveneta also supplied new primary and secondary pumps and a new pressurisation unit.
