Since flooring manufacturer
burmatex, a brand of Airea,
installed two Greenbank
compactors at its site in West
Yorkshire, it has seen a 40%
reduction in waste disposal
costs and lower carbon
emissions.
Purchasing Manager Lorna Hobbs, says: "The compactors ensure that we always have a full skip before it is emptied.
This reduces the number of collections required, meaning a reduction in carbon emissions and company spending. Having a compactor and a covered skip ensures that there is no danger of any waste escaping which also ensures our site is clean and tidy." One compactor is used for mixed recycling from both the manufacturing process and the offices - mainly paper, plastics, synthetic yarns and cardboard; the other is used as a general waste skip.
