Rather than opt for an alternative
90,000psi intensifier,Metals
& Services of Addison,
Illinois, US invested in an
AccuStream AS Series
60,000psi intensifier to use
in conjunction with its
latest three cutting
head waterjet cutting
machine. This decision
has allowed the
company to maintain
cutting power to each of
the three heads at the same time,
rather than limit the strength of the
waterjet to just one head.
The metals distribution company believed that the Accustream 60,000psi intensifier could deliver high pressure to the three cutting heads more effectively than a 90,000-psi pump, using its full cutting capacity for one cutting head.
When two or three cutting heads were used, cutting speeds with the larger intensifier dropped dramatically.
