downtime for gear manufacturer Zahnradwerke Pritzwalk
ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties Company, a division of Exxon Mobil Corporation, has delivered significant benefits to one of Europe's leading gear manufacturers, Zahnradwerke Pritzwalk.
The company's advanced metalworking fluids, including ExxonMobil's new range of Mobilcut water soluble cutting fluids and Mobilgrind neat cutting oils have helped contribute to increased plant productivity and reduced equipment downtime.
Since 1993 Zahnradwerke Pritzwalk, one of the largest manufacturers of cylindrical spur gears in Europe, has processed more than 18,000t of steel into 400,000 gears.
With diameters ranging between 20 and 1800mm, these high quality, precision machined products are used in the gear systems of helicopters, trains, building machinery, wind turbines, power plants, drilling rigs and paper machines.
Due to its highly precise manufacturing processes, Zahnradwerke Pritzwalk is renowned for the quality of its products, which are not only in demand across Europe, but are exported in large quantities to Asia.
With the focus on producing high quality components, the company switched to Mobil-branded synthetic metalworking fluids to help overcome overheating in some of its grinding operations.
Neat Mobilgrind grinding oils, which offer long service life and reduce maintenance downtime were also introduced, thereby helping to increase machine tool efficiency and productivity.
Maximilian van der Loo, manager of Zahnradwerk Pritzwalk, comments: "ExxonMobil's innovative products enabled us to improve our productivity and economic efficiency." The products' reliability and cost advantages have led to Zahnradwerk Pritzwalk choosing Mobil Industrial Lubricants for all its machining lubrication requirements. Mobil Vactra, chosen for its high precision and demulsibility qualities, is used for slideway lubrication, Mobil Velocite oil is used for the operation of high-speed spindles and Mobil DTE Hydraulic oils for hydraulic efficiency.
Michael Grewe, specialist for metalworking fluids at ExxonMobil Germany, comments: "The development of our range of high-performance Mobil Industrial Lubricants is supported by close cooperation with our industrial customers.
We have met the needs of Zahnradwerk Pritzwalk by focusing on properties that improve wear protection, which leads to extended durability and reduced downtime, thus helping to reduce maintenance costs and increase productivity. Numerous practical tests show that we have achieved these targets, while meeting the very latest health and safety criteria."
