Garmin's Southampton facility has over 460m2 of pedestrian walkways, and many hatched safety zones and logos. Continuous pedestrian and forklift traffic meant that despite trying many different coatings they faded and came away and had to be renewed frequently.

Tight production deadlines meant disruption during line renewal was a problem. As delicate electronic items are involved, those parts of the warehouse being treated had to be completely cleared to protect them from contamination by solvents used in the coatings. Garmin could only allow limited down time and the facility had to remain operational.

Contractor, Euro Resin Solutions used RapidShield, a UV-curable floor coating system to meet the client's needs in a single solution.

RapidShield has zero VOC and no solvents or odours so the warehouse did not have to be emptied and ERS completed a section and handed it back at the end of each shift.

More details are available from Quaker Chemical.
