Cofely, the energy efficiency services company of GDF SUEZ for businesses and local authorities, has completed the purchase of a large scale energy centre from Humber Energy.

The centre includes gasfired combined heat and power (CHP) and an associated industrial energy network.

Together they are capable of supplying 48MW of electricity and in excess of 200t of steam to an industrial park near Grimsby.

Cofely has signed a new long term Energy Service agreement for heat and electricity with current user Lenzing Fibers, a global provider of man-made fibres and another agreement with user Bluestar Fibres, a multi-national carbon fibre precursor/oxidised fibre producer.

Further investment is planned by Cofely, which will assist network users with ongoing reductions in both energy costs and carbon footprint for the foreseeable future.

Cofely will also implement its specialist Optimise energy management service to manage and reduce demand-side energy consumption at point of use.
