Push Back System increases storage by 30% for food manufacturer

20 August 2013

The Interroll Push Back system (LIFO) is running successfully in one of Dole Food’s workshops in Korea. With this new system, Dole will be able to increase their storage by 30% and reduce energy consumption by 20%.

The Korean food market is currently worth $45.7 billion and is expected to grow at a 5.6% rate to $53.5 billion by 2013.

This order was received last year by Nongshim ENG – one of Interroll’s partners and a reliable system integrator in Korea, and it includes 700 pallets positions with 3, 5 or 7 pallet deep lanes.

"In the past, we used Drive-in rack systems, which not only require comprehensive forklift driver training but also bring challenges in terms of safety in the working environment. Interroll Push back system is very user-friendly. We just need to put in or get out the pallets at the neck or the neck after the first pallet and don’t need to drive into the rack, which can save us an average 25% of our time,” commented Mr Nam-Kuk Kim, Director of Dole Korea.

"One of the challenges was how to flow pallets down without jams, because it is a crossway application. Interroll Pushback system has solved this concern. We have reaffirmed the excellence of Interroll solution and we can adopt Interroll Dynamic storage solution as a standard for similar applications. The key to provide the right solution is to put on the customers’ hat, understand their problems and requirements, even if some of them will only occur in the future,” commented Mr Young-Won Lee, General Manager of Nongshim Engineering.

Interroll Pushback system has been designed as a dedicated LIFO system, which can save a lot of space and achieve 80-95% occupancy utilisation. While unloading, Product available in front position, there is no need for the operator to enter the rack, which can provide maximum safety.
