Maintenance costs cut

20 November 2013

A multi-national electronics company with numerous plants across South Korea used to rely on metering pumps for dosing aluminium sulphate in its wastewater treatment facilities, but encountered inconsistent dosing when tank levels were low, together with unscheduled maintenance and high maintenance costs.

The company approached local Verderflex distributor Dong-Il Ent Co and, after consultations and site visits, eight Rapide R2S Peristaltic tube pumps were selected to replace the metering pumps. These operate at flow rates from 78 to 1080ml/min with discharge pressures to 1.5 bar.

The end user now experiences predictable maintenance patterns; the service period has increased from 600 to 1000h, reducing both process downtime and maintenance costs.

Jason Bang, Dong-Il Ent Co sales manager, says:  "The customer is very happy with the simplistic operation and maintenance of the pumps. The ease in which the tube can be changed using the ski-boot clamp of the Rapide R2S, compared to the labour heavy and complicated maintenance of the previous pumps is just one of the many reasons the end user decided to go for Verderflex Rapide pumps."
