Motors, drives and power transmission
18 June 2014
Mechanical power transmission products such as bearings, couplings and speed reducers are now included within ABB’s 2014 short-form catalogue alongside variable-speed drives, electric motors, motion control, HMIs (human-machine interface) and PLCs (programmable logic controllers).

The 96-page catalogue highlights ABB’s ambition to offer packages of products throughout the mechanical drive train for end-users, system integrators, machine builders and OEMs, providing one source for all their product and service requirements.
ABB’s recently launched Authorised Value Provider network is explained and details of all contacts are listed. Along with electric motors, the network provides direct access to the new ABB industrial drive, ACS880, which also features in the catalogue. The power range is extended to 2800kW in cabinet built units, with IP55 and IP21 variants now available. There is also a range of factory-built multidrive cabinets and modules included to allow integrators to build complex drives systems.
Alongside ABB’s extensive IEC motors are its NEMA motors which are now available directly from ABB’s stock in Menden, Germany. The range of NEMA motors include general purpose industrial motors, severe duty motors and explosion proof motors.
ABB’s IE4 energy efficient synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) and drive packages also feature and now include cast iron frame sizes from 160 to 316 in power ratings from 11 to 315kW. More powerful, high output SynRM motors in aluminum and cast iron frame designations are listed with frame sizes from 90 to 132 and power ratings between 1.1 and 37kW for the aluminum construction variants. The cast iron high output SynRM motors have larger frame sizes available from 160 to 316 with power ratings from 17 to 350kW.
