While SEW Eurodrive has
for many years supplied
quality gear units, motors
and drive electronics, the task of
combining these components and
installing them on site has
historically been left to others.
Now, however, expansion of its service centre facilities and the introduction of dedicated site teams has allowed it to take on complete onsite installation projects demanding the highest service levels.
This can include all products from SEW Eurodrive's portfolio, including standard geared motors, industrial controllers combined with special components and third-party items.
An example of the type of project now being undertaken is a contract for replacement drives at a Yorkshire Water sewage treatment site in Rotherham. Severe flooding in 2007 resulted in an unacceptable number of failures of gearboxes and motors.
Yorkshire Water decided to upgrade the site, including the aerator, drives at a cost of £4.5m. It selected SEW Eurodrive as its partner.
The project involved supplying 42 flange-mounted helical gearboxes with a maximum torque rating of 4000Nm, fitted with 11kW, twospeed, energy-efficient motors. New bedplates were made so the drives could use existing aerator fixings.
Output couplings had to be re-worked to the new specification.
